Polar bears and penguins are prime examples of animals at risk of extinction due to global warming, but tropical Hawaiian birds are also being seriously affected. I learned about this on TV, and I remember being very shocked to learn that colorful and rare birds were at risk of extinction. Originally, there were no mosquitoes in Hawaii. However, mosquitoes were introduced by humans around 1826. Birds that are not immune to mosquito-borne infections take refuge in the cool mountains at high altitudes where mosquitoes cannot fly. However, in recent years, global warming has allowed mosquitoes to fly up the mountains, and in the past 10 years, the population of some species has decreased by as much as 98%.

Hawaii is a very popular tourist destination, but unfortunately many tourists leave without knowing anything about the problems Hawaii faces.

The extinction of Hawaiian birds was created by invasive mosquitoes and accelerated by global warming. Is there anything we can do about it?
